I was thinking about what to do on a Saturday night when I got a text from a friend that asked if I wanted to bar tend at an art show at up and coming art space Disjecta.
I immediately respond yes and then proceeded to ask a few friends to come meet me at the show. Well not having the important OLCC permit , I ended up being a docent. That was all fine and dandy but I realized that I was going to watch a Blazers game that night. I was disappointed because I knew that the game was early because they were playing the Charlotte Bobcats. But I knew that I was going to get into the game and then have to change gears and try to hold it together in Art gallery land. So I went home a little crestfallen and decided to at the very least check out the show that I was going to be working. I checked my email only to find:

The Vestibule @ Disjecta presents...
Monarch
New Paintings by David Stein
David Stein's Monarch is an exploration of the surrealist technique decalcomania juxtaposed with the Rorschach inkblot test. Stein's work, while not as epic as Henry Darger, delves into the realm of fantasy in compelling detail.
Please join us for both openings on Saturday, November 14 from 6-10 pm. Disjecta's studio artists will also have their studio doors open for a peek behind the scenes, making for a very lively evening of high volume artistic flux.
To my appeasement the art show was the basketball game and it worked out great. Awesome people, rad art and I got to watch the basketball game! What a success story. I love Portland.
